Traveling all over Texas

We spent all day driving to and from different quilt shops.  From Kerrville to Castroville to San Antonio.

A nice relaxing evening

Clarissa got her first real bicycle today

Boy, is she excited about it - and she hasn't even had a chance to ride it yet.  We barely had time to bring it home before heading back for evening services at church.  I've got to attach the training wheels to it as well.

What a fantastic day!

It started off with a great Men's Prayer Breakfast at church.  While Jane and the kids ran around to a quilt store and Samuel's piano lesson - I got to mow the lawn.  Found out the bank is going to be able to order me a box of halves every week - I was really expecting that they wouldn't.

Best of all, Samuel earned enough this week to be able to go to the comic book store.  He had a blast picking out a couple for himself.  Clarissa wanted a Barbie sticker book - how could I say no?  Of course, I got a few for myself as well :)

Parents Night Out

So...half dollars dated after 2001 were never intended for circulation.  They are now typically minted in low millions, rather than the low tens of millions.  This makes them relatively scarce.  Scarce is good.  Scarce means they're worth more.

I convinced the bank to order me a box of halves.  When I went to pick them up today, someone had dumped most of a box there.  I doubt there's anything worthwhile in it, but I took it anyway.  Hopefully they will order me another box for next week.  They didn't seem too keen on the idea - apparently they really hate having them in inventory.  We'll see.

On a personal note, I've gotten Samuel hooked on Dr. Who.  We started off tonight watching the first episode from last year featuring the latest Doctor in preparation for the premiere on April 23rd.  He absolutely loved it.

Antiquing in Boerne

Marathon Kids

Texas Stars Hockey

We all went to see the Texas Stars play tonight.  It was the first hockey game for the kids.  Everyone had a blast.  I think Samuel enjoyed getting the cheerleaders' autographs almost as much as he enjoyed the game.

Exemplary Evening at school

The kids had a little program tonight at school.  They got to show the parents a bit of what they learn at school, and take home a lot of little activities that allow them to practice the same skills at home.

Afterwards, I went and got us barbecue for dinner.  Now I feel all bloated because I ate way too much.  I think I'm just going to skip eating tomorrow.

War nickels are hard to find these days

The high price of silver has really got people hoarding them I suppose.  Silver today closed at $26.83, which makes each wartime silver nickel worth just over $1.50 in silver content alone.  Of course, depending upon the condition, the numismatic value can be much higher.

Minute to Win It

Jane and the kids had the day off and had a lot of fun.  I had to work.  I did get a lot done though, since all the banks were closed.  I managed to clean up a bunch of stuff that I had been putting off.

Weekends are not good for diets

We go out to eat lunch after church on Sunday morning.  I have this weakness for fajitas, chips, queso, refried beans...you get the idea.  After all I had for lunch - I'm so full I don't think I'll be hungry until tomorrow evening.

Had a great time in Waco

We all went up to Waco to meet family this afternoon.  We all had a blast a Poppa Rollo's Pizza.  If you ever get a chance to stop in Waco for pizza, I highly recommend this place.  Of course, it pretty much blew my diet for the day - maybe the week.

Nice dinner out with the family

It's so nice to sit in a restaurant with well-behaved children.  I was so proud of our kids tonight - they sat nicely, ate their food - and didn't run around like the wild hooligans from another table.

It's still a salad. :(  And who knew that a cute little video game on the Wii could cause someone to break a sweat?  And I'm already tired of being hungry...

On a brighter note, Samuel got his stitches out today.  And even though his toe is still all purple and black, the doctor says it looks good.  I think we have different definitions of good though.  Thankfully, none of this seems to really have affected Samuel at all - just so long as he doesn't bump it on anything.

A Day for Resolutions

This year I have set two primary resolutions for myself.  The first will be to methodically read the Bible through in one year while having daily Quiet Times.  Jane and I will be holding each other accountable for this.  The second is to lose 75 pounds for the year.  I'll use this space to help hold me accountable for this one.
